Ellis Island is a special place for me to visit during trips to New York City. My grandparents fled Russia in the early 1900s to escape persecution because of their religious beliefs. When I stand in the Registry Room, I reflect on how terrified yet brave those immigrants were to flee their countries and acclimate to a new world.
